Radio Projects

Radio as an artform has an ability to create a sense of community amongst a disparate and geographically isolated set of listeners whilst generating the excitement and energy implicit in a live broadcast. Many of the radio projects featured here have addressed specific communities, be it artists and musicians, hospital patients or even barbers and hairdressers.

In addition to licensed RSL community stations and art radio stations (Radiophrenia, Hairwaves, Nowhere Island Radio, Bolt FM, Efford FM) also featured here are projects that have existed beneath the radar; the various activities of Radio Tuesday, Glasgow's first pirate art radio station, and the innovative radio experiments that have playfully subverted the existing infrastructure of hospital radio under the name Bedside Radio.
